Love Part 2
Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and all your mind, and Love your neighbour as yourself". This quote from Jesus is the ultimate order of love. If Adam initially did not put Eve before God, he would not have eaten the fruit. If Eve understood that loving God meant keeping to the instructions given no matter what it looks like, then she would have shunned the serpent. It is a lesson that is important, put God first. This rule does not apply to men only but the ladies, you are critical in giving your man the right perspective to face the world, knowing he is right with God.
Then comes, love your neighbour as yourself.
For those aspiring or about to get married, what is your motive?
Money or wealth?
Royalty?
Class?
Beauty, figure, build, physical attributes?
Food?
Ego or pride?
Hope to convert or change your spouse? e.t.c
These things will fail; wealth can vanish, people can dethrone royalty; a perceived class is vanity, and so on. The worst is if you think he/ she will change after marriage, NO, don't enter into marriage to change the other person, it is usually disastrous.
It takes only three persons for marriage to work, man, woman, and the only wise God. Do you know God is Love in His word (Bible), and therefore if God is love, we will find love when we seek Him.
It is useful when there are hard times between couples that they return to the word of God (Bible), primarily where Love is brought to life in what it is and what it is not, in 1 Cor. 13.....
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Profound, isn't it? When I have had times of trouble with my wife, I go back to these words, read them again and again until I realise that for me to gain peace, I need to find love.
No one is perfect, and no one is good all the time, that is why we need to continually remind ourselves of God's word that lifts us to another level of joy.
For this to work, I repeat, it takes three; man, woman, and God. God never fails, but man and woman fail most of the time. If you want your marriage to be a happy one, learn to love in every way you can, and you will reap the fruits of your efforts.
I love you and hope you can work marriage in love to make it better
